Before You Start

Use this checklist before you change anything in your setup:

  1. Power the Link Data Receiver from a supported data logger.

  2. Activate each sensor using the Magnetic Switch (WSMAGSW).

  3. Check LEDs:

  • Sensor Status LED (on sensor): green

Before You Start

Use this checklist before you change anything in your setup:

  1. Power the Link Data Receiver from a supported data logger.

  2. Activate each sensor using the Magnetic Switch (WSMAGSW).

  3. Check LEDs:

  • Sensor Status LED (on sensor): green
  • Sensor Link/Battery LEDs (receiver front panel): green indicators for linked sensors

Click on a relevant heading below to see more information:

Symptoms

  • Receiver Power LED is off.
  • No receiver LEDs illuminate.

Checks

  • Make sure the data logger is powered on.
  • Check the Power/CAN cable connection on the data logger.
  • Connect the cable to the other CAN/POWER port on the Link Data Receiver (Ports 1 and 2 are bridged).
  • Inspect the cable and connectors for damage.

Result

  • Power LED turns solid green.

Symptoms

  • Sensor Status LED does not light.
  • Sensor Status LED stays red.
  • Sensor Status LED turns off after activation.

Checks

  1. Swipe the Magnetic Switch over the top of the sensor again.
  2. Hold the Magnetic Switch closer to the sensor and swipe slowly.
  3. Charge the sensor battery.
  4. Make sure the vehicle is stationary during activation (bias calculation and zeroing).

Result

  • Sensor Status LED turns green.

Symptoms

  • Sensor Status LED is green, but the receiver does not show the sensor as linked.
  • Receiver Sensor Link/Battery LEDs do not illuminate for that sensor.
  • Data logger does not show wheel speed channels.

Checks (in order)

  1. Deactivate the sensor with the Magnetic Switch.
  2. Make sure that the Link Data Receiver is powered and working.
  3. Activate the sensor with the magnet again.

If this does not resolve the issue, continue with the following checks:

  1. Make sure the receiver antenna is connected to the correct SMA port:

  • LF sensor → LF port
  • LR sensor → LR port
  • RF sensor → RF port
  • RR sensor → RR port
  1. Move the antenna closer to the sensor and remove obstructions.

  2. Check antenna placement:

  • Keep a clear line of sight to the sensor.
  • Keep the antenna away from 2.4 GHz interference sources.
  1. Swap antennas to confirm the fault follows the antenna or the sensor.

  2. Power cycle the system:

  • Power off the data logger.
  • Wait 10 seconds.
  • Power on the data logger and activate the sensors again.

Result

  • The Sensor Link/Battery LEDs illuminate for the linked sensor.
  • The data logger receives sensor data.

Symptoms

  • Wheel speed channels drop to zero or become unstable.
  • Receiver link indication flickers.

Checks

  1. Use the supplied receiver antennas (do not rely on internal antennas).
  2. Mount antennas closer to the sensors.
  3. Keep antennas away from radio interference sources (2.4 GHz devices).
  4. Keep antennas away from metal obstructions where possible.
  5. Reposition antennas to improve line of sight.

Result

  • Stable wheel speed channels.

Symptoms

  • Receiver shows low battery unexpectedly.
  • Battery indication changes suddenly.

Checks

  1. Charge the sensor fully.
  2. Activate the sensor again and check the Sensor Link/Battery LEDs.
  3. Confirm that the sensor remains linked (receiver receives data).

Result

  • Battery level indication matches sensor state.

Symptoms

  • Sensor does not show expected charging behaviour.
  • Sensor remains low battery after charging.

Checks

  1. Connect the sensor charger (WSCHAR) to the charging port.
  2. Fully insert the charging connector.
  3. Check the charger cable and connector for damage.
  4. Try a different power source (if applicable).

Result

  • Sensor charges correctly.

Symptoms

  • Charging port cover not installed.
  • Moisture present around charging port.

Action

  1. Stop the test.
  2. Dry the sensor fully.
  3. Fully insert the port cover into the charging port.

Symptoms

  • Wheel Speed Sensor Input does not appear in Channel Setup.
  • VBOX Setup does not show expected channels.

Checks

  1. Confirm you use a VBOX 4 data logger (only VBOX 4 supports Racelogic Module mode).
  2. Confirm the Link Data Receiver is connected to the VBOX 4 RLCAN port.
  3. Activate the sensors and confirm link LEDs illuminate on the receiver.
  4. Restart VBOX Setup and reconnect:
  • Select the correct COM port (USB), or
  • Reconnect via Bluetooth.

Result

  • Wheel Speed Sensor Input appears in Channel Setup.

Symptoms

  • Calibration resets repeatedly.
  • Calibration does not complete.

Checks

  1. Drive in a straight line.
  2. Hold target speed steady for 5 seconds.
  3. Avoid steering corrections during the countdown.
  4. Repeat the calibration run.

Result

  • Calibration completes and scales wheel speed channels.

Contact Racelogic Support if you cannot resolve the issue after completing the checks above.
