This page provides everything you need to update the firmware on your VBOX Touch and understand what has changed between versions.
It includes:
- Firmware update instructions to guide you through the update process.
- Release notes outlining new features, improvements and bug fixes for each version.
Firmware updates may introduce new features, improve performance, or resolve known issues. We recommend keeping your device up to date to ensure the best performance and compatibility.
For a complete version history and detailed change information, see the Firmware History page.
The update process is SD card-based and does not require any cables, software tools, or a PC connection.

VBTOUCHR-V1 (10 Hz)
Version 1.5.3.41 BETA - 8 April 2024
BETA Version
BUG FIXES
- Fixed CAN output of Distance, Average Speed and Correction Age data – all on ID 0x305.
Version 1.5.2.29 - 18 October 2022
Includes all features of the 1.5.1.22 (V2 only) release in addition to the list below.
NEW FEATURES & FUNCTIONALITY
- Added support for CAN
Initial release of CAN functionality, adding support for CAN input (from vehicle database/DBC files, or RACELOGIC modules) and CAN output.
BUG FIXES
- Fixed an issue with the unit displaying an error on boot up due to corrupted lap timing settings.
Any track name of the maximum size would cause an exception when saving to EEPROM.
Version 1.5.1.22 - 25 July 2022 (V2 only)
Compatible Products (Product Code):
VBTOUCH-V2 only
NEW FEATURES & FUNCTIONALITIES
- Adds support for new 25 Hz GNSS engine
This applies only for GNSS engines included in V2 hardware available from July 2022. - Addition of miles/kilometres option for distance on Average Speed screen
User can now change between metres/kilometres, or feet/miles for distance display on Average Speed screen, previously only metres or feet were available.
IMPROVEMENTS
- Removed direct navigation between different settings areas
Each menu area is now separate and cannot be navigated to by swiping/pressing arrows from another menu option. - Changed result rounding to match VBOX Test Suite
Occasionally, results could be 0.01s out between VBOX Touch units and VBOX Test Suite software - “Alert at target” now resets when under 50% of target speed
“Alert at target” reset previously only reset once vehicle became stationary, now the reset occurs when below 50% of the set target speed
BUG FIXES
- Lateral and Longitudinal acceleration channels now zero below 4 satellites
Lateral and Longitudinal Acceleration channels were previously displaying values when satellite count was 3, anything below 4 should give no data for all GNSS channels - Decel test speed setting was not always updating to reflect unit change
Changing speed units could result in decel test using the previous speed value [but displaying new units] until a power cycle - Issue on average speed screen when crossing midnight UTC
When crossing midnight UTC, the elapsed distance could reset to zero and average speed would change to showing live speed - Stint time was incorrect after performing a cold start whilst moving
If a GNSS cold start was done whilst moving during active lap timing, after the next stint time reset the stint time would resume counting from the last known value rather than from zero.
