Occasionally Racelogic will release new versions of firmware (internal code) for the Video VBOX product, often to introduce new features. New firmware is loaded into the Video VBOX using an SD card.
Download the latest ‘.vidup’ file here.
How do you run the update?
- Download the upgrade file from the link above.
- Place the .VIDUP file on the root directory of an SD card (not in the media or any other folder).
- Power up the Video VBOX unit.
- Load the SD card into the front panel.
- The Video VBOX will double beep when the upgrade is complete.
- Turn the unit off and on again to complete the upgrade.
Below is a step-by-step video guide to upgrading Video VBOX firmware.
Note: When upgrading firmware on a Video VBOX Pro, instead of the Status LED flashing the Memory LEDs will count up 1-4 when the firmware is successfully installed.
IMPORTANT: Video VBOX Firmware and Software are not always backward compatible.
Please ensure that whenever firmware is updated, the latest software is also installed - see notes below.
After a firmware upgrade or re-flash, a second upgrade will be required in order to update the Video VBOX with the new leap second added to UTC time on the 31st of December 2016. For more details on how to do this, please click here.
Failure to load this may result in the Video VBOX jumping forward in time by one second when it has fully downloaded the satellite almanac - this can take up to 12 minutes after initial lock.
To prevent the Video VBOX from deleting the firmware file, create an empty text file called ‘no-delete-vidup.txt’ on the SD card in the same directory as the upgrade file, the upgrade file will then remain on the card following a successful upgrade.
If you are using an OLED display, this should also be upgraded after new Video VBOX firmware is loaded.
Click here for information on how to upgrade your display.
The latest Video VBOX Setup Software can be downloaded here
You will be asked to specify where to save the installer; you should select your desktop.
Allow the installer to download.
If you open this ZIP file, and select ‘extract all files’ from the top left corner of the window, you can then save this to your desktop.
Now open this ‘unzipped’ folder, and click on the ‘setup.exe’ icon. This will then run through the installer – you will have to click ‘next’ a couple of times and agree to some terms and conditions.
Note, at the end of the installer, tick the option when asked if you want to install Racelogic drivers.

Occasionally Racelogic will release new versions of the track map database in order to introduce new circuit maps and start/finish lines - and also to update any older tracks with new layouts.
The track map database stored within the Video VBOX is updated within a Firmware Upgrade, however the database can also be updated independently of the main unit firmware.
The latest database file can be downloaded from here.
To update your Video VBOX with the latest track database, please download the file and install it by following this procedure:
- Download the latest track database file from the link above.
- Place the Database.vidup file on the root directory of an SD card (not in the media or any other folder).
- Power up the Video VBOX unit.
- Load the SD card into the front panel.
- The Video VBOX will double beep when the upgrade is complete (may take up to 5 minutes).
- Turn the unit off and on again to complete the update.
