How to Transfer Pit Gates to Multiple Pit Lane Timer Units

Updated on Mar 4, 2026

The process of creating pit location files to share between VBOX Pit Lane Timer units will depend on the source unit hardware and the target unit hardware. Click on the option representing the units you are working with to see the relevant steps and information.

  1. Set entry and exit points on one pit lane timer unit.

  2. Save the pit locations to the SD card:
Menu -> Pit Lane Menu -> Manage Pit Locations -> Save Pit Locations to SD Card -> OK.
The unit will create a pit locations txt file on the SD card (PITLOCATIONS.txt).

  3. Remove the SD Card from the pit lane timer unit and open it on a computer.

  4. Find the most recently saved PITLOCATIONS.txt file on the SD card.
(The file name with the highest number is the latest revision on the card.)

  5. Open the text file and change the relevant pit name manually.
(e.g. PIT TRACK_001 to PIT Silverstone)

  6. Save the file.

  7. Copy the new file to the SD cards for the pit lane timers you want to transfer them to.

  8. Insert the cards into the pit lane timer units.

  9. Load the pit locations from the SD card:
Menu -> Pit Lane Menu -> Manage Pit Locations -> Load Pit Locations from SD Card -> OK.

This will add the locations in the loaded file to the pit lane timer's internal memory and it to detect the pit locations as long as it has satellite lock.
