Troubleshooting

Updated on Mar 4, 2026

If you had the Static IP option in the LAN1 menu enabled and set when you upgraded the firmware on LabSat 4 from version 1.4 to version 1.5, you may be experiencing an issue with the Mask and Gateway options in the menu structure.

While the static IP address will remain the same, it may be reversed.

You can resolve this issue by using the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the Static IP option in the LAN1 menu.
  2. Disable Static IP.
  3. Exit to the File Selection screen.
  4. Navigate back to the LAN1 menu.
  5. Enable Static IP again.

The menu options should now be displayed as expected.

If you downgrade your LabSat 4 with Static IP enabled, the IP address can become inverted. If the IP address becomes inverted after a downgrade, you must disable Static IP

Use the following steps:

  1. Open the Setup menu and navigate to the Static IP setting.
  2. Press the OK button with Static IP highlighted to disable it.
  3. Exit the setup menu and allow the unit to obtain a new IP address.
  4. Enable Static IP again if it is required.

If you encounter an issue where the SSD has been unmounted and is inaccessible on the LabSat 4 display, this may be due to the SSD not shutting down correctly after the previous use.

  1. Using the Ethernet port on the rear panel of the LabSat 4 unit to connect the unit to an active network using DHCP.
  2. Power up the LabSat 4 unit.
  3. Once booted, press OK to enter the menu.
  4. Use the Down button to scroll down to About and press OK.
  5. Take note of the LabSat 4 unit’s IP Address
  6. Use a computer connected to the same network to open a web browser.
  7. Type the LabSat 4 unit's IP Address into the address bar and press Enter.

This will open the Web Server for your LabSat unit.

  8. Click on System Setup in the Web Server.
  9. Click on the Enable SSD format toggle button.
  10. Click Format internal SSD

A pop-up window titled Format SSD will appear.

  11. Click Yes to confirm the format.

If successful, the LabSat will begin to reformat its internal SSD.
If unsuccessful, you will need to format the drive using the Paragon Software or with a Linux-based computer.

You can try to fix this issue by:

  1. Connecting the SSD to the PC and see if the Paragon software can read it.
If it can, take the opportunity to copy the drive content and save it elsewhere. Unmount the drive from the software and wait at least 30 seconds before you disconnect the drive. In some cases, this will recover the drive as it has had the opportunity to power up and shut down correctly.

AND

  1. Formatting the SSD with the Paragon software
